A Horrible Accident.

An accident occurred at Cantril's saw mill, near Hillsboro, last Monday evening, at five o'clock, which caused the death of Fred Holliday. He, with others, were engaged in pulling a large log up a steep hill to load it onto a wagon. A span of horses were hitched to a rope the ends of which were fastened at the top of hill. Mr. Holliday was "chalking **s log" {cannot make out middle word] when the rope broke, letting it roll down the hill. He started to run but tripped and fell, the log rolling over him crushing his breast and breaking his left leg so that the bones protruded and ran into the ground.

The unfortunate man was taken to his home and everything done to save his life, and he lingered until Saturday evening, when he died. The funeral occurred Monday and the remains were interred in Hillsboro cemetery. He leaves a wife and three sons to mourn his untimely death.

The log that passed over Mr. Holliday was 17 inches at the top and 20 feet long and made 325 feet of lumber, when sawed.
