Died

EDWIN BRUCE PARKER--Youngest son of Sidney and Margaret A. Parker, was born in Vernon, Van Buren Co., Iowa, December 1st. 1853, died March 16th 1889, age 25 years 3 months and 15 days.

Bruce was so well known that it is needless to pile up words describing his character and life, still we can but drop a few words descriptive of the sunny happy life so suddenly taken from our midst, and from the world never to return. He was a universal favorite, being a cripple for years, was a means of drawing sympathy from, old and young. But more than this, his bright, cheerful disposition linked with his native wit, gave him a welcome in every social gathering. More than that, whenever he might chance to be on the street, in bank or store, in shop or home, his presence at once banished the look of care, the load of trouble seemed to lift and be wafted away. This world has too few such characters, a continual sufferer, sometimes in greater then (sic) in less degree, yet he carried a kind word or smile for all he met.

Al (sic) will miss him. Still this is the lot of man. Your place like his will soon be vacant. Therefore, "Prepare to meet thy God." O, that we may all live that we shall be prepared to take part in the first resurrection.

The services were held in the Presbyterian church , Sabbath March 17th, 1889 at 2 p.m. After which he was laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
