Mrs. Margaret (Beard) Ryan died at her home in Bonaparte, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1898. She was born in Killarney, Ireland, June 22nd, 1838. She came to America with her parents, when quite young, and settled in Farmington, later moving to Muscatine, Iowa, where she was married to John Ryan, April 22, 1868. She was a member of the Catholic church from childhood.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one son and two daughters, her husband and five children having gone before her. She was a kind and loving mother and was respected by all who knew her. She had been [a] patient sufferer for 14 months. Her funeral services were held at the family residence Oct. 1, 1898 at half past one o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. John Daly of Farmington.
The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and draped with smilax. She was laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
