Francis Marion McDaniel was born in Salem, Indiana January 3, 1832. He moved with his parents to Iowa in 1837, settling upon the farm near Farmington which he owned at his death. He moved into the town of Farmington in 1897, residing there until called beyond. In 1884 Mr. McDaniel became a member of the Methodist church, and was a consistent member till the end of his mortal existance [sic]. He died March 8, 1899, having attained the age of 67 years, 2 months and 5 days. Deceased leaves a wife, one son, one daughter, one brother and four grandchildren.

The funeral occurred March 10, and was conducted by Rev. G. W. Barber.
