Lute Wallace Dodds, son of the late William Harvey and Catherine Gaddis Dodds, was born in Harrisburg township, Van Buren county, on July 12, 1866, and passed away at his farm home in Utica Aug. 21 1894. To them were born eleven children; six sons and five daughters. He is survived by his widow and eight children, namely Mrs. Kathryn Calhoun of Stockport, Mrs. Lura Strong of Chicago, Mrs. Erma Duncan of Iowa City, Miss Fanchon of Chicago, Dee L. and Lex L. of Washington, D. C., J. Malcom of Hillsboro and Harve of Utica. He is also survived by two half-brothers and a half sister all of the West Coast, fourteen grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. His only brother W. V. Dodds, passed away in October 1936. Mr. Dodds spent his entire life in Van Buren county with the exception of a few years in Kansas and Montana as a young man. He was vitally interested in the affairs of the community in which he lived, having been township assessor for twenty years, secetary of the school board continuously for forty six years, and a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Farmer's Union until a short time before his death. Funeral services were held at Miller Chapel Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. H. C. Irvine of Birmingham officiating. Burial in Miller Chapel cemetery.
