William VanMeter Dodds, second son of W. H. and Cathryn S. Gaddis Dodds, was born July 31, 1863 in Harrisburg township, Van Buren co., Ia. He died
Oct. 22, 1936 age 68 years, 1 month and 21 days. On November 3 1889, he was united in marriage to Olive C. Teal, who preceded him in death on the 4th of June., 1910. Seven children survive this union. Sidney Scott of Eldon, Beatrice Boley of Hillsboro, Grace Detrich, of Fairfield, E. K. Dodds of Stockport, Twila Short of Milton, Mrs. Willa Kerr at the old homestead in Pierceville, Iowa and Kayle M. Dodds, of Fairfield. Twenty-one
grandchildren and one great granc child, one brother, two half brothers and one half sister, mourn his passing. Funeral services were held in the church at Utica, Friday afternoon, and the funeral message was delivered by the Rev. A. M. Hadley of Cantril. He was laid to rest in the Dibble cemetery by the side of his wife.
