Obituary of C. W. Dodds 8-8-1923

Charles Wallace Dodds, son of John and Susan
Wallace Dodds, was born April 15th, 1858 in Harrisburg twnship, Van Buren county, Iowa.
Mr. Dodds was the youngest of nine children, three of whom survive: Mrs. Nora Sayer, of La Belle, Mo., J. A. Dodds, of Kansas City, Mo., and
J. F. Dodds of Bonaparte, Iowa. The greater part
of his life was spent in the furniture and undertaking business, having been engaged at Bonaparte, Iowa, and Keosauqua, Iowa. Four years
ago he was stricken with the fatal disease which caused his death Aug 8th, 1923, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 24 days. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law, who mourn the passing of a kind husband and indulgent father.
Charley, as he was familiarly known by his friends, who numbered all his acquaintances, was a good citizen, and exemplary man, and will be greatly missed, especially by his Keosauqua friends who held him in highest esteem.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon, Aug. 11, at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. C. Caughlan, pastor of the Keosauqua M. E. church, and burial was in the Purdom cemetery. Six nephews served as pall-bearers: E. S. Proper, Ames; Ed Dodds, Mt. Pleasant; L. W. Dodds, V. N. Dodds, Ralph Dodds and Harry Dodds, all of Van Buren county.

Keo. Republican.
