MRS. R. T. MCELROY
Mrs. Maude Heald McElroy, 82, of 214 Oakwood died at 5 a.m. today at the Sunnyslope Extended Care Center. She had been in failing health for the last several months.
The daughter of Charles B. and Ida May Rowland Heald was born in Scotland County Mo., April 7, 1888 and lived in Ottumwa most of her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the DAR, a member of the HQ Chapter of PEO, the What-So-Ever Chapter of King's Daughters and the LL Club. She was married to Ralph T. McElroy Oct. 11, 1911 at Mt. Sterling.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. T.S. Boggess Jr. of Griffin, Ga., and Mrs. George H. Reed of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Dowling of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Mrs. James Sullivan of Downers Grove, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1950, four brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Louis Woltenburg officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
The body is at Jay funeral home.
