EDITH MAE SMITH
Edith Mae Smith, daughter of Marian H. and Winifred Henry DeHart, was born March 6, 1898, on the family farm near Vernon and departed this life Saturday, November 16, 1974 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 76. She had lived most of her life in Van Buren County and had attended the Vernon School.
Remaining to cherish her memory are a daughter, Mrs. Miriam Sampair of Garden Grove, Calif., four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Nina Lee of Keosauqua and Mrs. Hazel Beall of Long Beach, Calif., two nieces, Mrs. Willis Watkins of Keosauqua and Mrs. Charles Lepore of Denver, Colo., a brother-in-law, Gordon Gove of Keosauqua, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by one sister.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women's organization and was active in all phases of church work.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 19, 1974 at 3 p.m. at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Cornish, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
