MRS. FRANK LIGHTFOOT
1850-1928Matilda Jane Lightfoot, daughter of Michael and Sarah Stackbarger, was born Dec. 18, 1850 in Indiana. At the age of four years, with her father and mother and two sisters, she traveled to Iowa in a covered wagon. She spent her girlhood here and was married to Frank Lightfoot Feb. 1, 1882. She spent her married life on the Lightfoot farm three and a half miles west of Sharon.
A few years ago after the death of her husband in 1910, she moved to Bonaparte, where she spent the remaining years of her life, up until Dec., 1927, when she became ill and went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Levi Cummings. Here with loving and watchful care she spent the remaining days of her life.
She was patient and cheerful throughout her long days of suffering and passed away on Sunday, June 10, 1928, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 22 days.
She was the mother of three children, one dying in infancy, Mrs. Elizabeth Cummings, and Harry N. Lightfoot of Farmington. She also leaves six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m., June 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cummings, Rev. Droz of Bonaparte officiating. Interment at Sharon with Bonaparte O. E. S. lodge in charge.
