Augustus WHITLOCK, born in Germany 2/22/1829. Came to America with parents 1837 when he was 8 years old. Settled in Farmington Twp. when 21 year old. In that year went to California. Returned to Iowa 4 years later married Miss Sarah M. BECK 9/24/1854 with whom lived with nearly 52 years. Located on farm in Harrisburg Twp., Van Buren County the year of their marriage. 11/24 of that year moved to Bonapart. 8 children - 5 daughters - 3 sons. 3 prededed him. Caroline Catharine; Mary Helen; Ida Alice. Leaves wife - 3 sons, Geo. F. of Wichita, KS; Wm. H. and John B. of Bonapart -- 2 daughters, Mrs. Anna A. CATES of Bonapart and Mrs. Lottie R. EDDY of Farmington, IA - one sister, Caroline KORFAGE of Kansas City, MO and brother, Henry Whitlock of Farmington and five grandchildren - one great grandchild. Died Bonapart 7/23/1906, aged 77 years 5 months 1 day.
