Funeral Services at Anson Church.

A large congregation gathered at the Anson church last Sabbath morning, for the funeral services held in memory of Nellie Edith Macklin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Newman. Nellie was born in Clark county, Mo., Nov. 17th, 1875 and died in Bonaparte, Iowa March 11, 1900, aged 24 years, 3 months and 21 days. She was married to Mr. Daniel Macklin in 1892. To this union were born four children, three had preceded her to the better life. She leaves her husband, one son, father and mother and one brother and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Nellie was a whole soulled [sic], warm hearted friend to all she met. She was a devoted, considerate and faithful wife and mother, and a consistent Christian. During short illness of three weeks, she was patient, considerate and resigned. Shortly before the end she called the loved ones and attendants about to bid them a final farewell, her mind was clear, she gave careful instructions as to the plans to be followed for funeral. Kindly remembering all not only of her family but her neighbors and friends. Her spiritual hopes were bright, to her death had no terrors. She was resigned and prepared to go, and sweetly fell asleep verifying the scriptural quotation: "Blessed are the dead who died in the Lord. "The sorrowing company who gathered from Bonaparte, Keosauqua and Farmington, as well as the home of her childhood showed how greatly she was loved. Rev. Wiggins, an old friend, preached the funeral sermon from 2nd Cor. 5:1.
