Walter S. Dannenhauer, son of Christian and Fredericka Heide Dannenhauer, was born March 3, 1898 near Arbela, Missouri and died Saturday morning, January 6, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua at the age of 91.
He grew up in Scotland County, Missouri, farmed near Wyaconda and Kahoka, Missouri, moved to a farm north of Bonaparte in 1936 and retired to Keosauqua in 1979. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church north of Bonaparte, attended Keosauqua Christian Church and was a member of Modern Woodmen of America.
Walter married Bessie Black February 22, 1920 near Wyaconda, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Claudie, Hot Springs, Arkansas; a daughter, Glenna Stecker, Farmington; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leland, Arbela, Missouri; two sisters, Mabel Padgett, Memphis, Missouri and Myrtle Bacus, Fairfield.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, 1990 in the Keosauqua Christian Church with Reverend Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.
A memorial was established for the American Heart Association.
Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements.
