Vera Shannan, 90, of Bonaparte, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 1990, at the Montrose Care Center.
Born March 18, 1900, in Van Buren County, she was the daughter of Henry and Daisy Bowles Wollam. She married Orie E. Shannan August 9, 1922, in Farmington.
She had taught grade school in Van Buren County for several years. She was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Joe E. Shannan, West Burlington, and Jim Shanna, Montrose; one daughter, Marjorie Harris, Burlington; one sister, Edna Muir, Keosauqua; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The service for Mrs. Shannan was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington with Bob Dodds officiating. Burial was in Blackledge Cemetery, near Mt. Sterling.
A memorial has been established for the Blackledge Cemetery.

On August 2, 1922 in Farmington, she was married to Orie E. Shannan, who preceded her in death.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, seven sisters and a grandchild. Her parents were Henry and Daisy Bowles Wollam.
Services were held August 28, 1990 at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington with Bob Dodds officiating. Burial was in Blackledge Cemetery near Mt. Sterling.
A memorial has been established with Blackledge Cemetery. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
