PEORIA, Ill. - Howard I. Martin, 77, of E. Peoria, Ill., formerly of Keokuk, died Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Farmington, Iowa, the son of Ira Elmer and Clara Belle Wolf Martin. He married Dorothy Christy on June 17, 1931, in Ft. Madison. He left Keokuk in 1936, moving to Peoria. He was employed by the T.P. and W. Railroad for 37 years until his retirement in 1974.

He was a member of the Hilton Masonic Lodge and the Cloverland Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife; son Donald of E. Peoria; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters Alma Ruff, Margaret Broomhall and Lennie Schneider, all of Keokuk; brothers Arlet Martin of Milwaukee, Ore. and Wayne Martin of Keokuk; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Remmert Funeral Home (ine) Peoria, Ill.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk with the Rev. William Mitchell officiating.

The family will meet with friends from 10:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the Vigen Memorial Home.

Vigen Memorial Home is in charge of local arrangements.
