Elsie Fitzgerald, 83, dies

ELDON - Elsie M. Fitzgerald, 83, died Friday, March 18, 1988, in her home at the Gothic Apartments in Eldon.

Born November 3, 1904, in Floris, she was the daughter of Aaron and Florence Laughridge Post and spent most of her life in the Floris and Eldon communities. She was a member of the Eldon Christian Church.

She married Hobart M. Fitzgerald April 4, 1922, in Ottumwa. He died July 17, 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Troxel of Eldon and Dorothy Bennett of Yuma, Ariz.; three sons, Darwin of Martinsburg, Hobart Jr. and Darrell Wallace, both of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Viola Fiedler of Selma and Hazel Meredith of Floris; and one brother, George Post of Bloomfield.

Services for Mrs. Fitzgerald will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Eldon Christian Church with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Campbell Funeral Home 7-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial gifts may be to the American Cancer Fund.
