Lucinda Hughes
Lucinda Hughes, daughter of George and Catherine Terhoun Winters, was born December 9, 1886 near Selma and died the morning of Thursday, May 19, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ottumwa at the age of 101.
She lived her life in the Selma community until entering the care center in 1986. She was a life-long active member of the Selma United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She married Emery Hughes in April, 1910. Mr. Hughes died in 1955. Two sisters, a brother, and her daughter-in-law, Frances Hughes also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, Garold of Selma, a granddaughter, Jenne Wainscott and her husband, Jim, of Fresno, California, a grandson, Arden Hughes and his wife, Karen, of Selma, five great grandsons, David and Bruce Wainscott and Mark, Scot and Todd Hughes, a great great grandson, Trevor Hughes, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 22, 1988 at 2 p.m. in the Selma United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Conte officiating. Interment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma. A memorial was established for the cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
