Veda Bartholomew Myers, daughter of Henry and Elva Cox Bartholomew, was born January 19, 1903 and died Sept. 18, 1987 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Baxter, Iowa. She had been a resident of McCann Village Apt., Newton, Iowa since 1980. She grew up in Van Buren County and graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1921.

She married William Myers who preceded her in death May 9, 1987. They were the parents of nine children; five sons, Dwight of Monnett, MO; Dwain of Bayard; Jack of Newton; Jim of Council Bluffs; and William Hugh who died in infancy and four daughters, Alice Heyde deceased, Marilyn Mertz of Newton, Joan Sebert of Midwest City, Okla., and Barbara Deeth of Perry, Iowa. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren, five sisters, Catherine Whitney, of Birmingham, Bessie Roberts and Sophia Roberts, both of Winfield, Jessie Barrow of Keosauqua and Norma White of Des Moines, and a brother Thomas of Birmingham.

Her parents and three sisters Theone Wray, Ruth Piper and Mary Rairden preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1987 at Reece Funeral Chapel in Newton with burial at Agency, Iowa.
