Eugene Bird

A former Stockport resident, Eugene Clifford Bird, Mesa, Arizona, died Thursday, January 29, 1987 at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa. He was 81.

Mr. Bird was born on March 11, 1905 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Frank and Augusta Courtney Bird. He married Marie Stohler Chapman on September 8, 1938 at Kahoka, Missouri; she died 1964. He then married Marie Hesse Mueller in 1968 at West Point.

Mr. Bird was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Mark Bird of Clearwater, Kansas and Kendall Bird of Crystal Lake, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Marjetta Eckburg of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. John King of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 4, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Albert Hauser officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
