Clara L. Hales

Clara Louise Hales, the daughter of Claude and Alice Osborn Freeman, was born July 22, 1907 at Warsaw, Illinois, and passed away Saturday, January 31, 1987 at Kirksville Osteopathic Center at the age of 79 years.

She married Ernest Pruett in 1924. He preceded her in death in October of 1942. She married Paul E. Hales March 20, 1943 at Kahoka. He preceded her in death February 20, 1984.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Pruett of Wyaconda; and Ernest Pruett of Reed Springs, Missouri; one step-son Larry Hales of Wyaconda; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Mary Alice) Smeltser and Mrs. John (Carolee) Davis, both of Alesandria, Missouri; one step-daughter, Mrs. Francis (Pauline) Crandal of Wyanconda; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Stanton of San Jose, California; one aunt, Mrs. Ruby Crenshaw of Keokuk, 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Louise was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church and of the Christian Women's Fellowship group of the Church; she was a member and Past Oracle of King Camp #3038, Royal Neighbors of America, where she had also served as Recorder for many years. She was actively involved with the Wyaconda Sr. Citizens Center organization and also in promoting the Clark County Health Department in its origin for the purpose of its home visitation program.

Services were held Tuesday, February 3, 1987, Wyaconda Christian Church, 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating.
