Marie Sommerfield

Marie E. Sommerfield, 73, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 11:13 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Methodist Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 16, 1913, in Hamilton, Ill., the daughter of Clyde and Alta Hardesty Smith. She married Wilson Hardy in November 1935, in Carthage, and he preceded her in death in July 1959. She then married William E. Sommerfield on Feb. 18, 1962, in East Peoria.

Survivors include her husband; sons Phillip Hardy of East Peoria, David Hardy of Hickory Hills, Ill., William V. Sommerfield of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Mrs. Woody (Lee) Smith of Glasford, Ill.; brother John Smith of Farmington; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Burial was in the Fond du Lac Cemetery, East Peoria. LeRoy Schmidt Memorial Chapel in East Peoria was in charge of arrangements.
