John P. Rude

John P. Rude, 51, of Mount Pleasant, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Born May 30, 1935, in Bonaparte, he was the son of Paul E. and Nellie Wallingford Rude. He married Arlene Ward March 11, 1967, at Fort Madison.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant. He was a 1954 graduate of Mount Union High School. For 22 years, he was a mechanic at the Peterson Implement Co., Olds.

Surviving are his wife, Arlene; his parents of Thatcher, Ariz.; one daughter, Jeanette Rude, Mount Pleasant; four brothers, Thomas Rude, Vacaville, Calif., Paul Rude, Galesburg, Ill., Charles Rude, Mount Union, and Donald Rude, Fairfield; three sisters, Lulu Ann Wallingford, Danville, Shirley Doughton, Moreno Valley, Calif., and Wilma Breuer, Burlington.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Thursday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Services for Mr. Rude will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Calvary Baptist Church.
