Stanley Medaris

Stanley Medaris, 79, of Farmington, died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 18, 2907, in Clark County, Mo., the son of George and Geneveive Marmion Medaris. On Dec. 5, 1932, he married Elsie Matthies; she later died. He then married Dorothy Hayes on Aug. 3, 1973.

Mr. Medaris was a retired farmer and a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church. He belonged to the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge of Farmington and was a past master of the lodge.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Dan Medaris of Bonaparte, Don Medaris of Littleton, Col. and Pat Medaris of San Antonio, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Sampson of Iowa City, Mrs. Irene Steele of Stockport and Mrs. Karene Adkins of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one stepson, Ron Hayes of Keokuk; two brothers, Forrest Medaris and Gene Medaris, both of Farmington; two sisters, Doris Batten of California and Gladys Hassenclever of Fort Madison, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Hambright officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

A memorial has been established for the Farmington Emergency Medical Technicians.
