Clarence Witt

WHAT CHEER - Clarence P. Witt, 77, of What Cheer died Feb 24,1987, at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney.

He was born May 27, 1909, in Van Buren County to John and Lizzie (??ed) Witt. He had lived in What Cheer since 1951, moving from Keosauqua. He farmed and was later employed by What Cheer Clay Products, and Kingsbury Homes.

He married Carribell Anderson March 4, 1936, in Ottumwa.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Linda Shipley of What Cheer, Esther Churchill of Marion, and Beverly McCulloch of LaPorte, Ind.; a son, Wayne E. of Summerville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and six sisters, Dorothy Witt of Bloomfield, Mary Witt of Mountain Home, Ark., Nellie Pundt of Fort Madison, and Nora Feeney, Ethel Slutts, and Ruth Jones of Ottumwa.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer, the Rev. Doana Light officiating. Burial will be in McFarlan Cemetery in What Cheer.

Visitation is open at the funeral home.
