Florence Weiny

Florence Elizabeth Weiny, 81, of Troy died April 7, 1987, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born Oct. 27, 1905, in Mt. Pleasant to Francis Burke and Myrtle E. Purdy Mallams. She attended Cedar Falls Teacher College, and taught in Henry County rural schools for several years. She was a retired cook for the Davis County school system in Troy. She lived in the Troy area most of her life, was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a charter member of the Help Your Neighbor Club in Milton. She married William Herbert Weiny, April 17, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant. He died July 1985.

She is survived by a son, Harold of South West, Mo.; two daughters, Margaret Flood of Lakewood, Calif., and Evelyn Humphrey of Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie Shellabargar and Zella Challen of Mt. Pleasant.

The service was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 1987 at the Troy United Methodist Church, the Rev. Alan Birr officiating. A graveside service and burial was at 2 p.m. in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Miles and two grandchildren.
