Raymond F. "Red" Cole

Raymond F. "Red" Cole, son of Charles W. and Jennie Zachau Cole, was born March 4, 1920 in Keosauqua and departed this life the evening of Sunday, July 12, 1987 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 67.

His life was spent in Van Buren County. He was a veteran of World War II and was employed 25 years by the Van Buren County Highway Department, retiring in 1985.

He married Louise Poling Thomas July 4, 1972. She died July 19, 1973. On December 23, 1978 he married Lucille Donart Jenkins at Cantril.

Surviving are his wife; a step-daughter, Louise Thomas at home; several other step-children; two sisters; Verla Wolfe of Keosauqua and Ruth Manning of Cantril; a brother, Lester Cole of Gallatin, Missouri. A brother, Roy, preceded him in death in April, 1987.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 15, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment with military rites in charge of Beer-Barker Post 113, American Legion, Keosauqua, was in Pittsburg Cemetery. Memorials were established for the American Cancer Society and the Pittsburg Cemetery.
