Bertha E. Crafton

Bertha E. Crafton, 88, of Birmingham, died Sunday, Sept. 6, in Wever at the home of her daughter.

Crafton was born Feb. 12, 1899, near Packwood, the daughter of William and Rose Sirdoreus Pickrel. She lived her entire life in Birmingham and was married to Walter Crafton Nov. 8, 1917, in Stockport. He preceded her in death in 1971.

Survivors include five sons, Roy of LeClaire, Robert of Davenport, Kenneth of Cedar Falls, Paul of Mt. Pleasant, and Leonard of Birmingham; five daughters, Mildred Brown of Cedar Rapids, Marjorie Jarmes of Fairfield, Joann Jones and Marilyn Retting of Weaver, and Idora Crafton of Keosauqua; 23 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; 3 sisters, Media Faulkner of Chico, Calif., and Ellen Weaver and Hazel Weaver of Birmingham.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8, 1987 at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials have been established to the Lee County Health Nurses.
