Rites for Schmitter Tuesday

LIBERTYVILLE - Boyd B. Schmitter, 70, of Libertyville died Saturday at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born March 12, 1917, in Queen City, Mo., the son of Fred and Edith Snowbarger Schmitter. Schmitter lived most of his life in the Libertyville community.

Schmitter had retired from John Deere where he worked at the Libertyville and Fairfield parts stores. He was a member of the Travel Club of America and the Lutheran Church in Queen City.

He married Ivas Woodburn, Dec. 31, 1946. She died in November 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Jo Topping, Birmingham, and Barbara Zimmerman, Des Moines; one son, Richard Mitchell, St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Leyden, Birmingham, and Sherry Hunter, Arlington, Texas; and one brother, Fred, Libertyville.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Visitation will be from 7-8:00 tonight at Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

A memorial has been established to the Methodist church in Libertyville.
