Blanche Thompson

Blanche Thompson, 80, of Oxnard, Calif., died Thursday, April 30, in Amarillo Convalescent hospital after a brief illness. Services were held at 12:15 p.m. May 3 at the United Methodist Church in Amarillo. Private interment followed. She was born July 7, 1906 in Milton to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Martin. Her father, Ben Martin was a long time rural mail carrier out of Milton, and her mother was a rural school teacher. Mrs. Thompson had lived in Ventura County, Calif. for 32 years, moving there from Buffalo, Iowa.

She was a school teacher in Iowa and before moving to Ventura, she worked for W.T. Grant Co. in Oxnard as a sales person for 10 years. Her husband, Fred Thompson preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Le Breton of Somis, Calif. and Karen Voss of Cuba, Mo.; a sister, Grace Gould of Oxnard; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Madolyn Helsel and Irwan Archer of Milton are cousins of Mrs. Thompson.
