Joseph E. Pool

DOUDS - Joseph E. Pool, 82, of Douds, died at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Glen Lochead officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. Visitation is open at the funeral home, where memorials to Zion Lutheran Church may be left.

Pool was born Jan. 11, 1909, near Birmingham, the son of Rilles and Mary Alice Ranard Pool. He married Henrietta Brill at Keosauqua on Feb. 20, 1939. He farmed between Birmingham and Douds, retiring to Douds in 1981. He was a member of Douds Community Club and had been active in the former Douds Field Day Organization.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Donald G. of Douds; two brothers, Frank Collin of Fairfield, Robert of Douds; three sisters, Jessie Schleeter and Esther Leydens, both of Birmingham and Erma Hootman of Douds. Two brothers,Wilson and Roscoe and two sisters, Juanita Pool and Caroline Channel, preceded him in death.
