Catharine Isabelle McIntosh, daughter of Thomas [Brewster] and Rebecca [Fitzgerald] McIntosh, was born Sept. 15, 1869, in a pioneer log cabin, on the old McIntosh homestead near Keosauqua, and departed this life, April 17, 1933, age 63 years, 7 months, and 26 days.

Finishing her education in the Keosauqua high school, she taught in the public schools of this county.

On November 2, 1893, she was united in marriage to George V. Barker. To this union was born nine children. One daughter, Isabel Fair, preceded her in death.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her death, the following chldren: Verne, Mrs. Edith Dodds, Mrs. Josephine Wells, John, Hugh, Arnold, Ralph, and Martha; three sisters: Mrs. Jane Matheson, of Keosauqua; Mrs. Mary Newman; Mrs. Rose Anson; and two brothers, James and George McIntosh, all of California.

She professed faith in God early in young womanhood, and joined Center Chapel church, later transferring her membership to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.

Hers was a useful life, and in going leaves a loving memory of a faithful and devoted wife and mother.

We wish to thank our many friends for their kind consideration during these our days of bereavement.
