Robert Franklin, son of General and Hannah Mae Bonnett Franklin, was born November 11, 1907 in Jefferson County near Batavia and departed this life the evening of Saturday, December 13, 1986 at University Hospitals, Iowa City, at the age of 79.
He lived in the Batavia-Libertyville area until moving to his present farm home near Pittsburg in Van Buren County in 1946.
He married Guida Brewer, April 6, 1934.
Surviving are his wife; six sons, Richard, Leo, General and Gary, all of Keosauqua, Robert of Gorin, Missouri, and John of Fort Madison. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Seven brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 16, 1986 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Pittsburg Cemetery.
