Vera R. Davis

Vera R. Davis, daughter of William H. and Jennie Amend Roby, was born June 9, 1898 in Davis County west of Milton passed away the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 17, 1986 at Nelson Nursing HOme, Fairfield at the age of 88.

She graduated from Milton High School, attended college in Mexico, Missouri, graduated from the University of Chicago, and taught in Cantril and Milton High Schools.

On June 20, 1920, she married Earl J. Davis at her parents home near Milton. Mr. Davis died in 1961. A brother, Bernie Roby also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Dean and his wife, Marion of Naperville, Ill., a daughter, Beverly Beeler and her husband, Norman of Milton, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a sister, LaVon Hargrove, Milton, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Davis was a lifelong member of the Milton Christian Church and a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star, PEO, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1986 at 1:30 P.M. in the Milton Christian Church with Rev. Ed Pool officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. A memorial was established for her church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
