RETA RIDER

Reta Rider, 74, Farmington, died at 7:35 Wednesday, January 29, 1986 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

Mrs. Rider was born December 21, 1911 in Farmington and was a lifelong resident of the Farmington area. She was a partner in Iowa Nurseries of Farmington and a former employee of Gambles of Farmington. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church Women, both of Farmington.

In 1929, at Fort Madison, she was married to Forrest Rider, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Edmond and Jack, both of Farmington; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Diana) Housholder, Silvis, Illinois, Mrs. Joyce Ellison, Dallas City, Illinois and Judy Kirkham, Farmington; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Schmidt, Farmington; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, an infant daughter and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1 at the Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington.

A memorial is being established wit the Farmington EMT Unit. Contributions may be made at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
