Elvin Watson rites Thursday

Services for Elvin C. Watson, 70, Stockport Route 1, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home.

Watson died Tuesday morning at his home 7 1/2 miles northeast of Stockport. A farmer, he spent his entire life in the Hickory Grove community.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. John DeMain. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Watson was born June 14, 1914 in Van Buren County, the son of Orla and Lena Tompkins Watson. He was married to Pauline A. Douglas June 20, 1939.

Surviving are his wife and two sons, Jerry L. Watson, Fairfield; and Wayne R. Watson, Stockport. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, one brother, Everett Watson, Fairfield; and two sisters, Velma Campbell, Keosauqua; and Crystal Westercamp, Fairfield.

Watson was a member of the Friends Church. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

A memorial has been established to the Cancer Fund.
