David Long

David H. "Pete" Long, 63, of Eddyville Route 2 died at 8:07 p.m. Nov. 2, 1986, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born March 26, 1923, in Keosauqua to Forrest H. and Gertrude Lulu Martin Long. A resident of the Ottumwa area all his life, he was employed at the John Morrell Co. for 25 years. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Walter B. Schafer Post 775 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion in Ottumwa. He married Helen Stokes May 17, 1947.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Judy Pullen of Plano, Texas, Jane Grace of Bloomfield and Jill Thomas of Centerville; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Pearl Miller of Ottumwa and Pauline Michael of Blakesburg.

The service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. John Hulsizer of Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with Walter B. Shafer Post 775 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military services.

Pallbearers will be George Long, Michael and Thomas Miller, John and Joe Munley and bob Barker.

The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today.
