JAMES McMILLEN

James Ewing McMillen, 85, of Keokuk, died Thursday, Jan. 15, at 7:25 p.m. in the St. Joseph hospital in Keokuk, after a long illness. Funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m., from the Miller Funeral Parlor in Farmington with the Rev. Gordon L. Shipp officiating. Burial was in the Farmington cemetery.

He was born February 28, 1874, in Farmington, the son of Hiram and Nannie Jones McMillen. He lived at Eighth and Missouri streets in Keokuk. He had been a resident of Keokuk for the past 30 years and was employed by Union Carbide for 20 years.

He was married to Edith McMillen, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one brother, L. H. McMillen, of Revere; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Moore, Ft. Madison, and Mrs. Mary Barnes, Donnellson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded also by one brother, George, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Anthony.
