Gerald M. "Shorty" Teeter

Gerald M. "Shorty" Teeter, 72, 409 E. Madison Ave., died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991, at his home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to American Cancer Society and Eagles Lodge Charities.

Teeter was born April 5, 1919, near Libertyville in Jefferson County, the son of Thurman and Mamie Green Teeter. He grew up in Jefferson and Van Buren counties and had lived in Fairfield the past 44 years. He worked as a molder and later in the pattern room of Iowa Malleable Iron Works for more than 45 years. He was past president of Eagles Lodge, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific in World War II. He married Roberta Canny on March 20, 1946, at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Delores Edgerton of Gravois Mills, Mo.; a granddaughter; a sister, Florence Hart of Douds; three brothers, Glen of Agency, Clyde of Eldon and Lloyd in Missouri. His parents, a grandson, a sister, Helen Humble and a brother, Jack Teeter, preceded him in death.
