BERNIECE M. PEACOCK
Berniece M. Peacock, daughter of Charles L. and Anna Case Cox, was born August 3, 1889 in Wayne County, Iowa and departed this life Thursday, May 9, 1985 in McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She grew up in Fairfield and on November 19, 1925 married Emmett Peacock. They farmed and were engaged in the road construction business near Mt. Sterling. Mr. Peacock was killed in an accident on the farm May 1, 1951.
Mrs. Peacock lived in Keosauqua from 1951 until 19080 when she went to make her home with her grand nephew, Robert Cox and his wife, Sharon in Sioux Falls. While in Keosauqua she operated apartment buildings and donate the land for Peacock Park, the local community ballpark.
She was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and Beer-Barker Unite, American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents, three sisters, Nora Sodergren, Minnie Cox and Lulu LaBaugh, and two brothers, Charles (Ted) Cox and Dr. Hubert Cox. Nieces and nephews are the only survivors.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 1985 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Dennis Fox, United Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield.
