MILDRED H. PHILIPS

Mildred H. Philips, daughter of Cecil and Laura Doud Bettis, was born November 10, 1923 at Buxton, Iowa and departed this life early Saturday, June 8, 1985 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport at the age of 61.

On February 18, 1941 she married Maynard Philips at Kahoka, Missouri. They lived in the Fairfield, Hillsboro and Stockport communities and the past 40 years in the Keosauqua community.

Surviving are her husband, Maynard; three daughters, Connie Miller, Muscatine, Mary Ann Ortiz, Davenport, and Sandi Slater, Denison; a son, Mike, Keosauqua and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ruth Pothoven, St. Louis, Missouri.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son Richard in infancy, and a brother Irvin in childhood.

Mildred was an active member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. in the Keosauqua United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Fox and Rev. Louise Westfall officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. A memorial has been established for her church. Pedrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
