Glenn Baumgartner

MEMPHIS, Mo. - Col. Glenn Baumgartner, 64, of Memphis, Mo., died at 6:31 p.m. Sept. 1, 1985, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa.

He was born June 16, 1821, in Jefferson County to John and Rama Alter Baumgartner. He grew up in Jefferson County as was a member of Ollie Baptist Church. He was an auctioneer and livestock dealer and had owned the Ollie Sale Barn and Keosauqua sale bar for several years. He was the Reno Auctioneer and Real Estate from 1870-76. He owned and operated the Gingham Inn in Kirksville, Mo., and the Scotland County Livestock Auction in Missouri from 198183. He was associated with Martz Auto Sales until retiring in September 1984. He had been president of the Iowa Cattleman's Association and was a member of the National Auctioneer Association. He married Reva Reinier on June 3, 1967, in Lancaster, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Waechter of Sigourney; a son, Douglas Baumgartner of Fairfield; three grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Martha Knight and Ina Tipton of Ottumwa; a brother, Max Baumgartner of Fairfield; and two sisters, Ada Neece of Sigourney and Eda Altman of Garden Grove, Calif.

The services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. David Bevington of First Baptist Church in Ottumwa officiating. The body will be cremated.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. today and Wednesday.

A memorial has been establisehd(err) to First Baptist Church in Ottumwa.
