DR. BYRON E. PETERSON

Dr. Byron E. Peterson, 56, Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, October 7, 1985 at his residence.

He was born September 1, 1930 at Inavale, Nebraska, to Wilber and Adeline Baylor Peterson. He married F. Francine Bryant August 20, 1981 at Lincoln, Nebraska.

He received his bachelor's of science degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1950 and graduated from the University of Nebraska medical school at Omaha in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955-57 and was in general practice in Mt. Pleasant until 1962 when he began a radiology residency at University Hospitals, Iowa City. In 1965 he was chief of radiology at the Mental Health Institute, Mt. Pleasant, Keokuk Hospital and at Van Buren County Hospital. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant, its Mariners' group, was a member of the American College of Radiology and the Henry County and Iowa State medical societies.

Surviving: his wife, Francine, rural Mt. Pleasant; one son, Byron E. Jr., rural Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Paula Hoenig, Mt. Pleasant, Janet Long, Ashland, Missouri and Andrea Peterson, Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; four brothers, Dwight, Lebanon, Kansas, William, Belaire, Kansas, Harold, Red Cloud, Nebraska and Neal, Grand Island, Nebraska; one sister, Esther Frankliln, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. October 10, 1985 at the First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant Church, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established for First Presbyterian Church, the Mt. Pleasant Public Library. Weir Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
