MADELYN PEDRICK JACOBSON

Madelyn Pedrick Jacobson, daughter of Harry C. and Annie Edmunds Pedrick, was born April 23, 1919 in Ottumwa and departed this life the night of Wednesday, April 24, 1985 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 66.

She grew up in Douds, graduated from Douds High School and the University of Iowa, and taught in Richland and Bloomfield High Schools.

On March 11, 1942 she married Richard W. Jacobson of Boxholm, Iowa in Ottumwa. They lived in Douds, Grinnell and Cheyenne, Wyoming, as well as Phoenix, Arizona and in Tucson since 1962.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Cynthia Hosick of Pullman, Washington, Karen Johnson of Fairbanks, Alaska and Melanie Jacobson of Modesto, California. Also surviving are three grandchildren; a brother Loren Pedrick of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Beulah Pedrick of Douds; and three nephews, Ben, Lee and Robert Pedrick, her mother-in-law, Alfreda Nordholm, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Myrtle Jacobson and Edna and Lester Troutman.

Medely was a member of Catalina United Methodist Church, Tucson and had been an Eastern Star and a member of the American Association of University Women.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 29, 1985 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Rev. Harold Harryman and Rev. Chris Daniel officiating. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Douds. A memorial was established.
