Helene Hootman

FAIRFIELD - Helen J. Hootman, 70, of 302 W. Broadway died at 2:20 p.m. Dec. 18, 1985, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Farmington to Clyde J. and Mary Bonnett Hootman. She had lived in Fairfield Since 1945 and previously in Birmingham and Washington, D.C. She was a clerk at the Birmingham Post office and an office employee for the Federal Bureau of Investigation during World War II. She worked in the business office of Loudens for 27 years and for the Fairfield Water Department, from which she retired in August.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Guild and Birmingham Class of 1934.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by nieces and nephews.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. Clair Odell officiating.

Family visitation is 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to her church or the American Cancer Fund.
