Mary C. Young

Mrs. Mary Carter Young, 79, Des Moines, suffered a fatal heart attack May 5 at her home at 4043 39th Place.

A native of Eldon, she had lived in Des Moines for 34 years. She was a retired teacher, having taught in schools in Des Moines County, Ida Grove, and Des Moines.

Mrs. Young was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teaches' honorary sorority, as well as local, stated and national professional education associations.

Surviving: Her husband, Wesley E. Young; two sons, Dr. Donald C. and Dr. Eugene W., both of Des Moines; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 9 at Grace Lutheran Church, Des Moines. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery, Des Moines.
