Mabel H. Long

FT. MADISON - Mabel Huntley Long, 83, Ft. Madison, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Burlington Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 10, 1902 at Cantril, to Edward and Catherine Feucht Huntley. She married Alton Brooks Long Dec. 23, 1967, at Ft. Madison; he died Jan. 27, 1978.

She taught public schools for 43 years in Ft. Madison, Denmark, Keota and Sigourney. She retired from Ft. Madison schools in 1968, was a member of First Christian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, International Teachers Assn., Retired Teachers Assn., University Women, and Senior Citizens.

Surviving: One sister, Mrs. Clarence (Bertha) Savery, Davenport; two nieces, Mrs. Kathy Barron, Coal Valley, Ill., and Mrs. Cindy Griffith, Rock Island, Ill; and a nephew, Jack Fansler, Davis, Calif.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, First Christian Church, Rev. Charles D. Kamilos. Committal at 2 p.m. Monday at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial to her church has been established at Barr Memorial Chapel.
