Finley S. Elliott

Finley S. Elliott, son of Francis Marion and Priscilla Huber Elliott, was born January 1, 1887 at Winchester in Van Buren County and departed this life the morning of Thursday, June 27, 1985 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 98.

On November 25, 1920 he married Bernice Tyler. They farmed southeast of Keosauqua until retiring to town in 1975. Mrs. Elliott died in 1982. Surviving are two sons, Richard T., Kinnelon, New Jersey, and Philip H., Bonaparte, a daughter, Dorothy Stecker, Hillsboro, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Elliott was a charter member of the Van Buren County Farm Bureau and served many years as a director of the Van Buren County Fair Association. He maintained a keen interest in the improvement of agriculture throughout his long and active life.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 30, 1985 at 2 p.m. in the Bentonsport United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Morrison, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Vernon Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
