MELVIN S. HUFFORD

Melvin S. Hufford, 73, of Keokuk, died at his home on Tuesday, March 5, 1985.

Mr. Hufford was born May 5, 1911, in Farmington. He had moved from Farmington to Keokuk in 1941. He had been employed by Channens Auto Supply in Keokuk for 25 years, retiring in 1973. He was of the Protestant faith. An Army veteran of World War II from 1943 to 1945, he had served in the European theater.

On August 12, 1934, at Kahoka, Missouri, he married Christina Kelley, who survives.

Also surviving are a brother, Donald Hufford of Farmington; two sisters, Laveta Salters of Fort Madison and Janet Benjamin Gray of Auburn, California.

He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, five brothers and two sisters. His parents were Frank B. and Minnie Crown Hufford.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 1985, at the Schmidt-Vigen Memorial HOme in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial with military rites, was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk.

A memorial is being established with the Heritage Center in Keokuk. Contributions may be made at the Schmidt-Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
