Ralph S. Mahon

Ralph S. Mahon, son of Lee and Nettie Smith Mahon, was born July 28, 1905 in Jefferson County and died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1985 in the emergency room of Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, following a heart attack suffered at his home in Country Lane Apartments, Keosauqua.

On December 24, 1930, he married Nellie Dorothy in Ottumwa. They farmed in the Stockport community and he also worked as a security guard at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant near Burlington. Except for three years in Nebraska and the past 12 years in and near Keosauqua, his life was lived in the Stockport area.

Surviving re his wife, Nellie, and a brother, Harry Mahon and his wife, Roberta, of Birmingham, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Though the Mahons had no children, they cared for many of their nephew and raised a niece, Myrna Dorothy Dietzman of Keosauqua, from the age of three after the death of her mother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, 1985 at 10 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
