Rubey A. Harlan

Rubey A. Harlan, son of Clarence and Mary Muender Harlan, was born May 16, 1905 at Stockport and died the evening of Friday, Jan. 3, 1986 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 80.

He graduated from Stockport High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant. In high school and college he was a star baseball pitcher.

On May 7, 1927 he married Retta Morris in Pomona, Calif. She preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1983.

In 1924 he joined the Stockport United Methodist Church. He was a carpenter by trade and lived most of his life in Van Buren County.

Surviving are two sons, Ted Harlan of Gulfport, Miss. and R.A. Harlan, Edmonds, Wash., ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 6, 1986 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery, Stockport. A memorial was established for the American Cancer Society.
